# Daryl Hall & John Oates: Live at the Troubadour - A Musical Reunion of Legends
## Introduction
Daryl Hall and John Oates, hailed as “the best selling pop duo of all time,” first crossed paths in 1967 at Temple University. Each with their own groups, they joined forces, setting the stage for an incredible musical journey.
## The Early Struggles and Success
After some less-than-impressive tracks and sound experimentation, they left Atlantic Records. By the mid-70s, their first commercial success, The Silver Album, came with RCA, which then popularized their music across the country. In the early 80s, they sought to define their own sound, and with the release of Voices, things started to click. In 1984, they were declared the “most successful duo in the history of recorded music” by the Recording Industry Association of America.
## A Symbolic Return
“Live at the Troubadour” is a symbolic homecoming. In 1973, they played their first LA gig at Troubadour in front of 400 people. 35 years later, they returned to celebrate their hit-laden career with fans.
## The 2008 Concert
The Blu-ray disc features a show recorded in May 2008, with 19 songs including their greatest hits. It's a laidback and intimate affair, like a high-school reunion. The performance grows more passionate as it progresses, and their music remains exciting even after decades. Technically, it's spectacular with multiple cameras capturing different angles of the musicians and the crowd.
