# Discover the Magnificent Journey of Bach's Sacred Cantatas on Blu-ray

## The Monumental Recording Project
In June 1995, a group of Japanese musicians, virtually unknown at the time, took on the huge task of recording Johann Sebastian Bach's complete sacred cantatas. Nearly eighteen years later, on 23rd February 2013, the Bach Collegium Japan and conductor Masaaki Suzuki – by then well-known in the international music scene – achieved their goal. They finished the 55th disc in a series that had received worldwide acclaim.

## The Commemorative Film
This Blu-ray film, made in conjunction with the final cantata recording, commemorates this momentous occasion. It features filmed performances of three last cantatas: Gloria in excelsis Deo (BWV191), Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele (BWV69), and Freue dich, erlöste Schar (BWV30). Additionally, it includes interviews with Masaaki Suzuki, key members of Bach Collegium Japan, and behind-the-scenes footage.
