### Phil Seymour: A Musical Journey Through Power Pop
Phil Seymour, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is most memorable for his stint with the Dwight Twilley Band. They crafted some of the era's best pop songs, like the classic “I’m on Fire.”
After two albums, 1976’s *Sincerely* and 1978’s *Twilley Don’t Mind*, Seymour embarked on a solo career. While awaiting a recording deal, he recorded solo sessions and contributed to works by Tom Petty, 20/20, and Moon Martin.
In 1980, he signed with Boardwalk Records after impressing them with demos made with fellow Tulsa natives 20/20. His self-titled debut was well-received; the single “Precious to Me” reached No. 22 on the pop charts and is now a landmark in power pop.
In 1982, he released *2*, which was less successful both creatively and commercially. After Boardwalk president Neil Bogart's death soon after its release, Seymour was label-less.
In 1984, he joined Carla Olson’s Textones, drumming and singing on their *Midnight Mission* album for A&M. During the album's promotion, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He returned to Oklahoma, recording less frequently until the disease claimed his life on August 17, 1993, in Tulsa, while preparing a new album.
