# Pink Floyd's Stunning Reunion at Live 8: A 20 - Year Comeback
After over 20 years, Pink Floyd took the stage with its classic lineup at the London Live 8, wowing around 200,000 fans.
## Iconic Setlist
They played timeless hits like “Breathe,” “Money,” “Wish You Were Here,” and “Comfortably Numb.” “Comfortably Numb” got a new lease on life last year when the Scissor Sisters’ top 10 cover introduced it to a new generation of U.K. listeners.
## A Long Hiatus and Past Tensions
Pink Floyd had been absent from the live scene since the 1994 tour for “The Division Bell” album. And it had been even longer - since 1981 - since bassist Roger Waters performed with the group. In the years following, Waters and David Gilmour had a bitter feud. Waters even sued Gilmour for touring as Pink Floyd without him after the band’s split post - “The Final Cut,” but the lawsuit was unsuccessful.
## A Reunion Full of Smiles
However, at London’s Hyde Park, the group - including drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright - was all smiles. Waters dedicated “Wish You Were Here” to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett, who stepped away due to mental health issues in the late ’60s.
## The Rumored U.S. Tour That Didn't Happen
Rumors suggest the reunited band was offered over $200 million for a U.S. tour, but Gilmour declined.
## What Followed
After Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney took the stage, joined by George Michael for the Beatles classic “Drive My Car.”
