## The Documentary Story
Renowned filmmaker Katja von Garnier shadowed the Scorpions for one and a half years during what was meant to be their farewell tour. The documentary “Forever And A Day” tracks the band from Bangkok to Moscow. It led to the Scorpions axing their retirement plans. Instead, in 2015, they celebrated their 50th anniversary with a new tour, album, and the movie “Forever And A Day”.
## The Scorpions’ Legacy
Think back to the ’80s: big hair, acid-washed jeans, and lighters in the air at a concert. The Scorpions’ “Rock You Like a Hurricane” (1984) became your karaoke favorite. Despite being an ’80s arena rock icon, the Scorpions have been around since 1965, hailing from Hanover, Germany. With hits like “Wind of Change” and “Still Loving You,” they’ve sold over 20 million albums and successfully crossed from Europe to the US and beyond.
## The Decision to Keep Rocking
“Forever and a Day” shows how the band is still going strong after their 50th Anniversary Tour. It includes early years’ footage, like a historic Kremlin visit with Mikhail Gorbachev. Founding guitarist Rudolf Schenker, with the band for 50 years, said that during the 2011 - 2012 farewell tour, huge fan turnout made them cancel retirement. “All shows were sold out, old and new fans came,” he said, and the band realized “the time wasn’t right to retire.”
