The story of Lou Reed’s 1973 album *Berlin* is fascinating. It went from being a critical and commercial flop to one of his most respected records, validating Reed’s vision. This concert film was shot 33 years after the former Velvet Underground frontman released *Berlin*. In the intervening years, there was a remarkable critical turnaround, yet Reed rarely performed songs from this album.
In late 2006, director Julian Schnabel went to St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York, to film the live resurrection of *Berlin*. The film is from a five-night run where Reed and various guest performers brought the album back to life.
