## 2. Background
After the 2015 release of *Rattle That Lock*, Gilmour embarked on a series of concerts at historic venues globally. On July 7th and 8th, 2016, he delivered two stunning shows at the iconic Pompeii Amphitheatre, beneath Mount Vesuvius. This was 45 years after his first performance there for Adrian Maben’s classic *Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii*. These concerts marked the first rock performances in the ancient Roman amphitheatre, built in 90 BC and buried in ash during Vesuvius' AD 79 eruption. Gilmour is the only performer to play to an audience in the arena since the gladiator era, nearly 2000 years ago.
