## The Wacken Experience
Wacken Open Air has earned its stripes as continental Europe's premier metal festival. It's a harmonious gathering of metalheads from across the globe, with long hair, leather, mud, and pure enjoyment, evoking the festival spirit of the early 70s. At Wacken, the festival itself is the star, not a single headliner. This was the sentiment Purple felt stepping onto the stage.

Indoor shows rely on meticulously rehearsed and precision-set productions. Festival performances, however, are fraught with technical glitches and surprises, keeping the tension high. Little did Purple know the outpouring of love and warm welcome they'd receive, and how much the metal crowd adored their album. Still, the band felt the “pressure” of introducing themselves to 90,000 metal fans. For the first time in ages, Deep Purple had to win over an audience like in their early days.

The result? A one-of-a-kind concert where Deep Purple unleashed raw energy, ditching their typical stage routine and sometimes arrangements. The show sizzles from start to finish, growing in intensity song by song, buoyed by the enthusiastic audience. This concert saw Deep Purple step out of their “safe zone,” capturing an improvisational and electric vibe reminiscent of their classic era, more so than many of their other live releases.

## Filming and Mixing
Filmed with 9 HD cameras and available in 3D on Blu-ray (a first for Deep Purple), the audio was mixed in Hamburg by Eike Freese and Alex Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn) under Roger Glover's supervision.
