## Breaking Free from Comparisons
RPWL, often likened to Pink Floyd, has come a long way. Starting as a Pink Floyd tribute act in the 90s, they've evolved. With 10 studio and 7 live albums in 20 years under their own name, it's time to see them for who they are.
## The Unusual Route to "God Has Failed" Live
The 20th anniversary tour of their debut "God Has Failed" in November 2020 didn't happen as planned. Instead, they filmed a live studio session of the entire album. This mirrors the concept of their 2012 album "Beyond Man and Time".
## The Significance of "God Has Failed"
This album represents RPWL's early days. Before 2005, when they started adding overarching concepts to releases, "God Has Failed" was born in the rehearsal room. It was a huge step from being a tribute band and dealt with personal experiences, like singer Yogi Lang's farewell to his father. Themes of goodbye, mourning, and transience are evident.
## RPWL's Success and Philosophy
RPWL has never chased commercial success. Their love for music has led to a remarkable career. They've had concerts in North America, graced WDR Rockpalast, and achieved international chart success, even hitting the Top 50 in their home country with "Tales from Outer Space" in 2019.
## The Magic of the Live Production
During the production of this live album, a sense of nostalgia filled the air. The band formed a circle, creating an intimate yet experimental atmosphere. Master guitarist Kalle Wallner's solos, along with the Gilmour Girls' vocals, and the use of vintage Moog and grand piano, make it a treat.
## The Complete Package
"God Has Failed" (2021) is a full-circle statement. It's released digitally and physically (double vinyl). The vinyl includes Pink Floyd interpretations from 2000. It's also available as a Blu-Ray and DVD. The package has bonus content like discussions with the original and current line-ups and a listening session.
