## The Band's Longevity and Influence
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been making music since 1976. What's truly amazing is that most of the band members are the same as when they first got together in Gainesville, Florida 35 years ago. Even solo projects and Petty's stint with The Traveling Wilburys didn't stop them from their mission of playing classic rock ‘n’ roll, solid blues, and country rock.
## The Concert: A Soundstage Series Gem
This nearly two-hour concert, split into “Episode 1” and “Episode 2”, is part of the Soundstage series on PBS, presented by Chicago's WTTW in partnership with HD Ready, LLC. Both episodes are from the same 2003 concert, part of the revived Soundstage series' first season. They were broadcast together in 2003, a year after the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Previously released on a now-out-of-print two-disc DVD set by Koch Vision in 2005, and briefly available for Blu-ray in 2008 but not widely, the concert is now under Image's rights. While it may lack bonus tracks, it's easy to find and offers great visuals and sound.

## Fan Reactions and Highlights
Fans seeking a “greatest hits” concert may be disappointed as some well-known songs are missing. But true fans will recognize the “B” sides and album fillers. The band gives it their all, with highlights like a credible “Handle Me with Care” sans Roy Orbison, great renditions of “Refugee” and “I Won’t Back Down”, and a showstopping piano solo by Tench on “Melinda”. Petty lets the music do the talking, and that's what they do best.
