## A Tribute to Bach and Leipzig
With this recording, Herbert Blomstedt honors Bach and Leipzig. Part of the Blu-ray was recorded in 2005 at the Leipzig Bach Festival, the world's leading Bach celebration. Bach's masterpiece, written during his tenure as the 18th Gewandhauskapellmeister, doesn't end Blomstedt's collaboration. He remains honorary musical director. Performed at St. Thomas’ Church in Leipzig, where Bach designed his works, it's a touching farewell.

J.S. Bach’s *Mass in B Minor* is a sacred music gem. The other part was recorded at the 9th Otober Memorial Concert of the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Thomanerchores, starting from the 1989 demonstration, a month before the Berlin Wall fell.
