# Uriah Heep's 'Live at Koko' (2016): A Hard Rock Gem

Uriah Heep, alongside Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin, are the undisputed innovators of Hard Rock. Since their 1969 debut, they've sold over 40 million albums.

## The Band's Evolution
Starting as Spice (with members of the Gods), Uriah Heep has had a remarkable journey. Founded by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box, Mick has remained at the helm through numerous lineup changes. Keyboardist Phil Lanzon and vocalist Bernie Shaw joined in 1986, nearly 30 years ago. Drummer Russell Gilbrook, with the band for 7 years, has contributed to studio albums like “Wake the Sleeper”, “Into the Wild” & “Outsider”. “Wake the Sleeper” marked a new era, blending the classic sound with a modern edge. The 40th anniversary saw the release of “Celebration”, a greatest hits re-recordings album. Bassist Dave Rimmer, initially filling in for Trevor Bolder, continues to be part of the band.

## Recent Success
In 2011, they returned to the studio for “Into the Wild”, which debuted strongly in Germany at #32.随后, they embarked on a global tour, playing to nearly 150,000 people across 58 countries including Eastern Europe, Australia, Japan, and America.

## The Magic of 'Live at Koko'
Mick Box shares, “Recording a live DVD in London at Koko’s was just fantastic. Our fans travelled from all over the world to be there, and be part of this magic night. This added so much to the atmosphere, and thankfully it was captured on camera. We debuted two songs from our new CD, ‘Outsider,’ that night, and the reaction was just incredible, proving that we have the best fans in the world.”
